Sometimes when you are purchasing or renting a house there may be damage or quirks about the house that you do not know about. Bad neighbours
Another thing to be careful of is that you don't move into a place that has problems with neighbours. This problem could present itself in a number of different ways. The most common would probably be loud neighbours. This is common if you are living near young people who may have a lot of parties. If you have young children who need their sleep or you yourself have problems sleeping with noise this is something you will want to look out for. Another problem with neighbours that could present itself is nosy neighbours. These neighbours may come over to complain about minor issues or even just watch you. This can be very unpleasant or uncomfortable but is a lot harder to find out about before you move in. There are other types of neighbours that you may want to watch out for but, the general idea is that you should be mindful of any signs of problematic neighbours before you decide to buy or rent.
General misleading
In order to help to sell their home, some people may speak in a way that is misleading. This might not be a flat out lie, it could just be the subtle implication of something that isn't true. They may also dodge certain questions. In some ways this can be worse than lying as it is harder to catch someone on it. If someone leads you to a false conclusion without giving any false information there isn't really anything that you can do about it. This is difficult to deal with as the way that you deal with it is just by recognising that they are being misleading. This is a social skill that takes time to develop so all you can really do is be mindful.
