Proper Eating on Your Moving Day

Meals are a thing that many people neglect to plan for when they are planning out their move. How and when you eat can have a significant effect on the day of your move. By planning your meals to suit your plan for the day of your move, you will be able to better streamline the moving process and use your time as efficiently as possible. This article discusses the merits of various options for planning your meals on the day of your move.

Eating out / Takeaways

One of the options that you have available to you is to eat out at a restaurant or order takeaways. By doing this, you will be able to reduce the workload that you will have on the day of your move. Not only will you not have to cook a meal, you will also be able to keep the dishes that need cleaned to a minimum. This can be useful as you may not even have the contents of your kitchen unpacked yet. You can also use eating out or takeaways as a small treat to celebrate moving into your new home. The obvious downside of this option is that eating at a restaurant or ordering food is much more expensive than cooking your own meals. This should be kept in mind when considering this option.

Pre-making meals

Another option that you have is to prepare meals the night before you move. This has some of the same advantages as ordering food. Again, you will have less work on the day as you won't have to cook. You will however, have to cook twice as much the night before and there will still be dishes to do. You will also not have to have the contents of your kitchen unpacked as you will only need what is required to serve what you have made. This option is cheaper than ordering food since you are cooking it yourself. One of the downsides of this is that you will have to transport the food in a way that it maintains freshness. This makes this option only viable if you are not moving too far of a distance, or if the food you are making is non perishable. This means that although it is cheaper than ordering food, it is significantly less convenient.

Cooking in the new home

The final option that you have is to cook something in the new home. Like the other two options, this option has its advantages and its disadvantages. Like pre-making meals, it is a lot cheaper than ordering food. You also don't have to worry about transporting meals in a way that keeps them fresh. This does mean however, that you will have to unpack your kitchen, cook your meal and do the dishes on the day of the move. Depending on how much you have to do, this can either be inconsequential or a massive pain. One advantage is that this can give you a chance to familiarise yourself with your new kitchen and enjoy the functionality of your new home for the first time. One last thing to consider when you are considering this option, is that you will have to have ingredients in the new home to be able to cook with. This means either bringing some with you or buying them on the day of the move.
