Unplug any cables
Most pieces of electronic equipment, especially those that are large, will have cables that plug into them. Some of these cables will be required for the operation of the equipment and others will not. Regardless, it is better to make sure that these are unplugged from the equipment before transport. Having them plugged in puts them at risk of being pulled or bumped. This can damage the port where the cable plugs in which may render the electronic device inoperable. Although you want to make sure that they aren't plugged in, you will want to ensure that they kept together so as to not get cables lost or mixed up.
Securing and stacking
The two easiest ways for your equipment to be damaged is from moving around and from falling. Because of this, it is important that you properly position, stack and secure your electronics. You don't want to stack the electronics up too high as this presents the risk of falling if it or the things underneath it become unstable. On the flipside, you will not want to stack most things on top of it as the weight may damage it. This will depend a lot on the specifics of the equipment. On top of this, you will need to make sure that the device is properly secured. This means that it will be transported in a manner that ensures that it will not be moving around too much. The reason that movement is bad is that it risks things bumping into each other. This impact may cause damage. Either padding the equipment, tying it down or putting it in a place where it is unable to move are all viable ways of securing your equipment for transport.
